Harold Guti
Composer, pianist, and educator Harold Gutiérrez began his musical studies at the National Conservatory of Colombia and the Superior Academy of Arts in Bogotá. Mr. Gutiérrez holds his BM and Masters from Queens College in New York where he has been active as composer, arranger, pianist, session musician, and educator since 2004.
In 2009 he received first place in the Long Island League of Composers Competition and received the Michael Feinstein Scholarship awarded by the City University of New York. In 2010 he received the ACE Award as music director in the production "Rhythms of Latin America" produced by Mestizo Dance Company. In 2011 he received the "Theory and Composition Leo Kraft Award" also granted by the City University of New York. His work for symphonic format “Alboroque” was a finalist in the National Symphonic Composition Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Colombia in 2012. In 2013, his orchestral work “Andanzas Latinoamericanas” won first place in that same contest and was premiered by the Galveston Symphony Orchestra in Houston. Most recently in 2015, Mr. Gutiérrez was commissioned as a composer by the Quintet of the Americas leading the Memory Project awarded by The National Endowment for the Arts, in New York City.

Harold Gutiérrez inició sus estudios musicales en el Conservatorio Nacional de Colombia y en la Academia Superior de Artes de Bogotá. Por más de quince años Gutiérrez se ha desempeñado activamente como compositor, arreglista, músico de sesión y educador en los Estados Unidos.
En el 2002-03, ganó el “The Charlie Palmieri Piano Solo Competition” y desde ese mismo año, es director musical para la Society of Educational Arts, y el Spanish Thalia Theatre en la ciudad de Nueva York. En el 2009 recibió el primer lugar en el concurso de la Liga de Compositores de Long Island NY y recibió por mérito la beca Michael Feinstein otorgada por la Ciudad Universitaria de Nueva York. En el 2010 recibió el premio ACE como director musical en la producción “Ritmos de Latino América” y en el 2011 recibió el premio de Teoría y Composición “Leo Kraft” otorgado también por La Ciudad Universitaria de Nueva York. En el 2012, su obra Alboroque para formato sinfónico ocupó el segundo lugar y recibió Mención de Honor en el Premio Nacional de Música en Composición convocado por el Ministerio de Cultura de Colombia y en el 2013 su obra Andanzas Latinoamericanas, fué primer lugar en esa misma convocatoria en Colombia y estrenada en el 2015 por la Galveston Symphony Orchestra en Houston, Estados Unidos. También en 2015 Gutiérrez lideró el Memory Project como compositor comisionado por el Quinteto de las Americas en Nueva York y con el apoyo del National Endowment for the Arts.
En 2016 su libro Sonorous - Piano Repertoire for Kids fué recomendado como una de las mejores publicaciones del año por Melanie Spanswick, reconocida académica en Inglaterra. Gutiérrez obtuvo su título universitario y su maestría en composición clásica en el Aaron Copland School of Music - Queens College, City University of New York; actualmente es miembro activo del Music Teacher National Association en Estados Unidos.
